Top 5 Signs of a Great PPC Account Manager

Top 5 Signs Great PPC Account Manager

At Advisible, we’re lucky enough to have employed a set of staff who are young, driven and motivated to excel in their roles. When it comes to being a great PPC account manager, there are many factors that come into play. The opportunity to be a great PPC manager is there for everyone, but unfortunately, not everyone jumps onto that opportunity.

The following 5 attributes are key signs that you have a great PPC manager looking after your campaigns.

1. They Care

It’s simple really, if you actually care about your work, then you’re more than likely to do well in it. If you don’t care about your work, then there’s nothing pushing you to get results.

For me, it’s like my own happiness goes hand in hand with how the accounts I’m running are performing. If the client is making money, then they are happy. If the client is happy, I’m happy, and everybody wins in this situation.

People mirror the emotions of others, so it works the other way around too. If a client is unhappy, then that takes a toll on my own happiness as well. But a great account manager won’t let that put them down completely. At this stage, it’s about taking a step back and working out a solution to the problem. Otherwise you’ll just fall into a spiral of negativity which will affect your overall work.

2. They Always Ask Questions

You could have a PPC manager who has excellent technical skills, and really understands the science of PPC. But if they’re not probing you with the right questions to really understand you and your business, then how can they apply all their skills to deliver you results?

If your account manager is asking you questions about your business right from the get go, then you know you’re on the right track. PPC account management relies on more than technical know how. It’s about truly understanding your clients business and their goals, and applying your skills to achieve these goals.

3. They’re Organised

A PPC account manager usually handles a number of accounts at any given time. Being able to prioritise and organise your workload is vital for this role.

In any role or industry, you’re expected to meet deadlines. If you’re a business owner, you would know yourself that missing deadlines is never a good thing, and it will more than likely impact your clients perception of any future work you or your team does.

Without organisation, it’s easy to lose track of what tasks you have to do. When you forget about tasks, it means you’ve forgotten to do something for one or more of your clients.

And let’s be honest, nobody likes to be forgotten about, especially clients who are paying you for your services.

4. They’re Proactive

A great PPC account manager needs to have a proactive mindset to be able to stay ahead of the pack.

The online advertising space is constantly seeing changes. New products & features are constantly rolling out, and your account manager needs to be able to identify these changes and apply them to your campaign.

Being proactive will prevent you having a stagnant campaign and it will give you a competitive advantage. Staying ahead of your competitors activities is truly a key to success in this space.

5. Solid Account Setup

Much like building a house, your PPC account needs a strong foundation and a solid build. Sure, you can build your house quickly with cheap materials and it will give you what you need in the short term. But over time it will start showing weaknesses, and start costing you time and money to fix all the problems that should have been eliminated from the start.

This is similar to setting up your PPC account. Your account manager needs to invest time to do a thorough set up of your account so that it caters for the long term success of your business.

So if you’ve noticed that your account manager is showing that they actually do care, it’s safe to say you’re in good hands. If on the other hand, your account manager isn’t showing any of these traits, and this is making you worried, we’re only one click away.
